One of the most popular online forums in the world, Reddit, is testing a new feature at the moment, that would enable users to connect any NFTs they may own to their profile picture. Reddit may already have its own Ethereum-based NFT collection titled CryptoSnoos, but the new feature shall reportedly give users the option to add any NFT they may own to their profiles.
Nima Owji, an App researcher, first took note of said test last week, adding a picture of the announcement on his Twitter to notify people about it.
“Your NFT, now your avatar!” says the banner, further noting that “You can now use digital collectibles as your Reddit avatar.”

Details pertaining to what looks like Reddit’s deep dive into the NFT world may be scarce at the moment, but the company has in fact confirmed the news, simply stating that the test is in “very early stages and hasn’t been made available to public users on the site.”
In conversation with TechCrunch, Tim Rathschmidt said “We’re always exploring ways to provide value for users and communities on Reddit. At the moment, we’re testing the ability to use NFTs as profile pictures (avatars) and verify ownership.”
According to the report, Reddit has a not-for-sale collection consisting of “wonder” NFTs on OpenSea, currently operating on test mode, as well.
Regarding this foray into the NFT space, Reddit is not the only platform to jump headfirst into the NFT craze here. YouTube and Twitter are both engaging in similar endeavors at the moment. Even Instagram is among those, promptly revealing that the platform is “actively exploring NFTs and how we can make them more accessible to a wider audience.”
