Samsung Unveils 2022 TV Lineup with NFT Support

Samsung’s 2022 line up of TV’s includes NFT support, as well as an NFT marketplace.

Samsung will be adding NFT support to its lineup of TVs this year, which will include a screen-based explorer as well as an NFT marketplace aggregator, too.

The electronics giant held a press release, stating “In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator, a groundbreaking platform that lets you browse, purchase, and display your favorite art — all in one place.”

The platform has “an intuitive, integrated platform for discovering, purchasing and trading digital artwork” via Samsung’s MICRO LED, Neo QLED, and The Frame TV ranges. Also included will be the ability to preview NFT art before making a purchase, as well as the exploration of its history and blockchain metadata.

“With demand for NFTs on the rise, the need for a solution to today’s fragmented viewing and purchasing landscape has never been greater,” Samsung said in their announcement.

The TVs also have support for smart calibration, which allows NFT creators to make preset values for the display settings; after which the smart TVs will automatically adjust said settings to match that of the presets, “so you can have peace of mind that your work looks impeccable, with true-to-the-original image quality.”

Undeniably, NFTs have surged ever so highly this past year. Art NFTs have also garnered much interest. At Miami’s Art Basel, NFTs were also the talk of the town. Of course, other art galleries were definitely conflicted on the matter of displaying NFT artworks.

Samsung, too, has been in the crypto space demonstrating its interest in it, since way back in 2019. They added crypto assets to their smartphones, introduced the Samsung Blockchain on its Galaxy S10 model.

A year later, they then added Theta.tv to their Galaxy phones, which is a crypto-powered streaming platform for videos. In 2021, they turned on support for crypto hardware wallets in their Samsung Blockchain Wallet.

Later on in the year, the Bank of Korea made an announcement regarding the central bank digital currency or CBDC pilot, by way of Samsung Galaxy smartphones as well.
