Ukraine Has Begun Accepting Dogecoin Donations During Russian Invasion

In addition to Bitcoin, Ethereum and Polkadot, Dogecoin donations are now accepted by the Ukrainian Government.

Ukraine is now accepting donations in cryptocurrency Dogecoin, according to Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Taking to Twitter, Fedorov announced that “Now even meme can support our army and save lives from Russian invaders.”

This is the latest move pertaining to cryptocurrency donations that the Ukrainian government has taken in order to raise funds for them to fight back against the Russian invasion.

Since last week, the Ukrainian government has been receiving donations in Bitcoin and Ethereum since the official Twitter account shared addresses for both cryptocurrencies during their announcement of “accepting cryptocurrency donations.” Ukraine has since managed to raise well over $20 million in both Bitcoin and Ethereum combined to date, according to blockchain records.

The country is also accepting donations in Polkadot, too. Just a day ago, a tweet from the government confirmed as much, saying, “the people of Ukraine are grateful for the support and donations from the global crypto community as we protect our freedom.”

Furthermore, an airdrop has also been announced for the 3rd of March, 2022, at 6PM Kyiv time.

Per Elliptic, a blockchain analysis firm, the country has raised, in total, more than $35 million in various cryptocurrencies.
